WEBDJ – Privacy Policy

1. Overview

WEBDJ ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that provides a professional DJ-style control deck for HTML5 video and audio elements on any website. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

WEBDJ does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:

• No personal identifiers (name, email, IP address, device ID)
• No browsing history or page content
• No audio or video content from pages you visit
• No form data, passwords, or credentials
• No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting
• No personal data is sent to any external server by WEBDJ

3. Data Stored Locally

The Extension stores your preferences (playback speed, pitch, EQ settings, color theme, language, etc.) exclusively in chrome.storage.local — your own browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is fully under your control.

4. Permissions Explained

• activeTab — Granted securely only when you interact securely with the extension, allowing it to hook into the current tab's <video> or <audio> element.
• scripting — Required to inject the audio control logic into the active page that contains the media element.
• storage — Used solely to persist your Extension settings locally (see Section 3).
• sidePanel — Opens the WEBDJ control deck as a persistent Chrome side panel.
• optional_host_permissions (<all_urls>) — This permission is optional and is never requested at install time. It is only activated when the user explicitly clicks the "Connect to this tab" button. The extension is deliberately designed to work with any standard HTML5 <video> or <audio> element on the web. Restricting the permission to a hardcoded list of domains would make the core functionality impossible. This permission is used exclusively to inject the audio control logic and read basic media properties (currentTime, duration, playbackRate). It does not read page content, text, forms, cookies, credentials, or perform any scraping.

5. Third-Party Services

WEBDJ has no third-party integrations, SDKs, analytics services, or advertising networks. The only external request is optional playlist thumbnail loading from img.youtube.com when you add YouTube links to the queue.

6. Children's Privacy

WEBDJ does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. Because no data is collected at all, the Extension is safe for users of all ages.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy is ever updated, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the change. Continued use of the Extension after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
